چکیده

Acute common carotid occlusion in rabbits causes a reduction in ocular blood volume and ciliary artery blood pressure. At all levels of intraocular pressure, cervical sympathetic stimulation reduces these changes. The ocidar blood volume reduction after acute common carotid occlusion is not linearly related to the absolute blood pressure change or to the lowest blood pressure reached in the ciliary artery; it is related to the effective perfusion pressure after occlusion. Effective perfusion pressure is equal to ciliary artery blood pressure minus intraocular pressure and it reflects the transmural pressure of ocular blood vessels.. The effective perfusion pressure at which the peak ocular volume change occurs after acute common carotid occlusion reflects the critical closing pressure of the ocular blood vessels. This approaches zero in the absence of sympathetic stimulation and is 10 mm. Hg or greater in the presence of sympathetic stimulation.

The Effect of Chronic Inflammation on Knee Joint Vascular β-adrenoceptors in Rabbit

It has been shown that inflammation reduces the effectiveness of sympathetic nerves in the regulation of knee joint blood flow, and the joint vascular- ß adrenoceptors are changed due to acute inflammation from a majority of ß-1 to an equality of ß-1 and ß-2 receptors.. To investigate the role of sympathetic nerves in nerve induced vasoconstriction and changes in joint vascular ß-adrenoceptors ...

Evaluation of the diurnal intraocular pressure fluctuations and blood pressure under dehydration due to fasting

Introduction: This study aimed to investigate the diurnal intraocular pressure fluctuations under dehydration conditions and the relationship between the intraocular pressure fluctuations and blood pressure. Methods: The intraocular pressures (IOP), body weights, as well as systolic and diastolic blood pressures (SBP, DBP) of 36 fasting healthy volunteers were recorded at 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m...

Ever since Thomas Lauder - Bruton First introduced Amylnitrate into clinical medicine, nitrovasodilators of different classes have been extensively used in the medical treatment of angina pectoris, myocardial infarction and heart failure. Understanding the mechanisms of action of nitrates has been greatly expanded in the last decade, particularly since the discovery of endothelium dependent rel...

PRE- AND POSTJUNCTIONAL α-ADRENOCEPTORS IN RABBIT ARTICULAR BLOOD VESSELS

Previous in vitro work on rabbit knee joint vessels showed that vasoconstrictor effects of nerve stimulation and administration of α-adrenoceptor agonists were mediated predominantly by α1-adrenoceptors5,9 The present experiments were performed to assess the nature of α-adrenoceptor subtypes within these blood vessels in vivo. Dose/response relationships for adrenaline and noradrenaline pr...
